Purpose

The Mental Health Officer provides clinical mental health services to individuals with moderate to severe mental health conditions, ensuring ethical assessment, treatment planning, referral, and follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Mental Health Services

  • Conduct clinical mental health assessments and psychosocial evaluations.
  • Provide individual counselling or structured therapeutic support within scope of practice.
  • Develop treatment and care plans and monitor progress.
  • Identify high-risk cases and escalate appropriately.

Referrals & Case Coordination

  • Refer clients requiring psychiatric or specialised care to appropriate services.
  • Coordinate with Case Management, GBV, and PSS teams to ensure integrated and survivor-centred support.
  • Follow up on referred cases to ensure access to services and continuity of care.

Documentation & Ethics

  • Maintain confidential clinical records in line with data protection protocols.
  • Ensure all services are delivered in line with safeguarding, confidentiality, and Do No Harm principles.
  • Uphold professional ethics, informed consent, and clinical boundaries.

Supervision & Capacity Support

  • Provide technical guidance to PSS Officers on handling complex or high-risk cases.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and professional development.
  • Support mental health awareness sessions where required.

 

Other Duties

  • Perform any other duties related to the position, as reasonably assigned by the Supervisor or relevant Head Office units, in line with organisational policies and operational requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology
  • Preferably 1-2 years of experience in clinical mental health practice
  • Valid registration with the relevant professional body preferred
