Position Title: Communications Intern

Location of Workstation: Karachi
Type of Job: Internship (3 Months)


POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Intern will support the implementation of the project Strengthening State’s Response to Sexual Violence, Child Marriages, and Domestic Violence by assisting with project visibility, digital communications, branding, photography, government correspondence, and event support. The role offers practical exposure to development communications, stakeholder engagement, donor compliance, and public-facing communication within a multi-province programme environment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Social Media and Digital Communications

a. Draft social media content for project events, trainings, launches, and key milestones
b. Coordinate with the LAS Communications Department for content approvals, scheduling, and visibility requirements
c. Maintain and update the project social media content calendar
d. Monitor social media engagement and escalate relevant queries or feedback as required

2. Event Branding and Donor Compliance

a. Support the development of branding materials including banners, certificates, name cards, programmes, and event collateral
b. Review external-facing materials for compliance with donor visibility requirements and branding standards
c. Maintain records of branding materials produced and utilized throughout the project
d. Ensure consistent application of LAS branding guidelines across all communications outputs

3. Photography and Visual Documentation

a. Attend and photograph project trainings, consultations, advocacy meetings, and launch events
b. Organize, label, and archive event photographs and visual assets
c. Curate photographs for social media, reports, and donor documentation purposes
d. Ensure survivor privacy, dignity, and safeguarding principles are maintained in all visual content

4. Government Correspondence and Documentation

a. Draft official correspondence including meeting requests, invitations, acknowledgements, and follow-up communications
b. Deliver official correspondence to relevant government departments when required
c. Maintain correspondence trackers and records of communication activities
d. Follow up on pending correspondence through approved communication channels

5. Programme Support

a. Provide logistical and administrative support during trainings, workshops, meetings, and events
b. Support participant registration, coordination, and event documentation activities
c. Assist with collection and filing of activity documentation in coordination with programme team members
d. Submit weekly activity updates and participate in team coordination meetings


REQUIREMENTS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Education

a. Currently enrolled in the 3rd year of a Social Sciences programme (Communications, Media Studies, Sociology, Gender Studies, Public Policy, or a related field) at a recognized Pakistani university and entering the 4th year in September 2026

Knowledge and Experience

a. Demonstrated interest in communications, media, public relations, or development sector work
b. Previous experience in student societies, volunteer initiatives, communications projects, or internships will be an advantage

Technical Skills

a. Strong written communication skills in English and Urdu
b. Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools
c. Basic knowledge of Canva or similar graphic design tools will be preferred
d. Photography and visual documentation skills will be considered an asset
e. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Core Competencies

a. Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding branding and donor compliance requirements
b. Excellent organizational and time-management skills
c. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
d. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
e. Willingness to attend events within Karachi and travel to Hyderabad as required
f. Commitment to survivor-centred, trauma-informed, and gender-responsive communication practices


LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the internship, the Communications Intern will have gained:

a. Practical experience in development communications, branding, donor compliance, and external visibility management
b. Hands-on experience in government correspondence and stakeholder communications
c. Experience developing social media content, event branding materials, and visual documentation assets
d. Understanding of the role of communications in programme implementation, advocacy, and donor engagement
