About the role:

Under the supervision of the Project Manager the Hybrid Solar Thermal Plant Operator will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the hybrid solar thermal plant. This role involves ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the plant, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing performance to maximize energy production. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in renewable energy systems and a commitment to sustainability.

About the Project:

The "Waste for Value-Project" funded by NCA Pakistan aims to transform plastic waste management in the urban slums of Islamabad by establishing a social enterprise model that promotes waste segregation, recycling, and community engagement. The project focuses on converting single-use plastics into valuable products, thereby promoting a circular economy, enhancing community well-being, and addressing environmental challenges associated with improper waste disposal.

Your impactful goals will include:

  • Operate and monitor the hybrid solar thermal plant to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of plant equipment, including solar collectors, thermal storage systems, and auxiliary systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient energy production.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement improvements and upgrades to the plant systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards during plant operations.
  • Assist in the training of new staff and provide guidance on operational procedures and safety protocols.
  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust operational parameters to optimize energy generation.
  • Participate in routine safety drills and emergency response training.
  • Prepare reports on plant performance and maintenance activities for management review.

What we are looking for:

Education & Knowledge:

  • Higher Secondary School Certificate.
  • Technical training or certification in renewable energy, mechanical, or electrical systems is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in solar energy systems or plant operations are a plus.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in operating renewable energy systems, particularly solar thermal plants.
  • Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems is highly desirable.

Functional Competencies/Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of solar thermal technology and energy systems.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and control systems used in renewable energy plants.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards in the renewable energy sector.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
