The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) was established by the Aga Khan Foundation in 1982. AKRSP is working in ten districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, two districts in Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province and two districts in Sindh to improve the quality of life of the people in the programme area.
AKRSP is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill the following positions:
Nutrition Officers: Astore, Diamer, Gilgit, Thatta, Sujawal (05 positions)
Job Purpose:
The Nutrition Officer will focus on improving maternal and child health nutrition outcomes through screening, education, and service integration under AKRSP programs in the target regions.
Job Descriptions:
o Conduct and supervise nutrition screenings of children under 5 years and pregnant/lactating women using anthropometric tools.
o Collaborate with facility and community teams to integrate nutrition services with immunization and maternal health programs.
o Plan and conduct awareness sessions on breastfeeding, infant and young child feeding (IYCF), and maternal nutrition.
o Identify and manage cases of malnutrition (SAM/MAM) and ensure timely referrals to advanced care facilities.
o Conduct awareness sessions on nutrition with parents/caregivers, and pregnant and lactating mothers on nutrition.
o Compile and report data on nutrition indicators, ensuring accuracy and compliance with program standards.
o Coordinate with local stakeholders (DoH, WHO/UNICEF, and community organizations) to implement nutrition activities effectively.
o Any other task from the supervisor.
Requirements:
• Education: 16 years of education in nutrition, public health, or a related field.
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in nutrition screening, counselling, and nutrition initiatives implementation.
• Skills:
o Strong knowledge of EPI protocols and routine immunisation practices.
o Strong communication and community mobilization skills.
o Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
o Ability to work under pressure in challenging environments.
