Position Objective: The MEAL Assistant will support the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) processes of the Drought Anticipatory Actions Project in Thatta, Sindh. This role ensures that project interventions are effectively tracked, data is accurately collected and analyzed, and accountability mechanisms are implemented. The MEAL Assistant will conduct field visits, facilitate post-distribution monitoring, and support partners in ensuring transparency and learning throughout the project cycle
Relevant Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, Public Health, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of overall and 1 year experience in monitoring & evaluation, humanitarian accountability, or data management in development/humanitarian projects.
Job Description:
Mission 1: Execution of MEAL mission strategy at Provincial level.
The MEAL Assistants is responsible for:
- Support in development of MEAL plan for projects.
- Conduct field monitoring visits to assess the progress and impact of project activities.
- Support the collection of quantitative and qualitative data through surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
- Ensure that beneficiary data, cash distribution records, hygiene kit distribution, water provision, and fodder support interventions are well-documented.
- Maintain a database for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure that reporting tools are in practice according to MEAL plan.
- Ensure FCRM SoPs are in practice at project level.
Mission 2: Ensure Evaluation and Learning of Project
The MEAL Assistant responsible for:
- Assist in baseline, midline, and end line surveys to measure project effectiveness
- Support the post-distribution monitoring (PDM) process for multipurpose cash assistance, hygiene kits, and water tinkering.
- Designing and putting in place Information systems which conform to gather data according to MEAL plan
- Document lessons learned and best practices to improve future programming.
- Assist in the development of case studies and success stories highlighting project impact.
- To track program/project KPIs.
- Ensure that program data quality.
Mission 3: Accountability & Feedback Mechanism
The MEAL Assistant responsible for:
- Establish and manage a feedback and complaint response mechanism for project beneficiaries.
- Ensure timely collection, documentation, and resolution of community complaints and suggestions.
- Facilitate discussions with community members and stakeholders to improve project responsiveness.
Mission 4: Reporting & Documentation
The MEAL Assistant responsible for:
- Compile weekly and monthly MEAL reports to track project progress.
- Ensure data quality and integrity by conducting spot checks and verifications.
- Support data analysis and visualization for donor reports and internal decision-making.
- Maintain an organized system for MEAL documentation and compliance with donor requirements.
Mission 5-: Ensure compliance with ACFs gender equality, child protection sensitivity and Safeguarding policies
The MEAL Assistant responsible for:
- Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender, Child Protection and other safeguarding policies
- Implement all work related activities with a gender, inclusion and child protection lens
- Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.
Mission 6 : To ensure inclusion across programming and within/by the team
The MEAL Assistant responsible for:
- Support mission level qualification of gender marker indicators;
- Encourage inclusion within recruitment, training and promotion;
- Ensure inclusion within programme planning, implementation and reporting;
