1.1.2. Nutrition International (NI) is a Canada-based international organization that has been working in Pakistan since 2001. NI is implementing a country-wide LSFF program with funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and The Gates Foundation (GF) to address micronutrient deficiencies among women, adolescent girls, and children under five. The LSFF program encompasses universal salt iodization (USI), edible oil fortification, and wheat flour fortification and includes support at federal and provincial levels to create an enabling environment for food fortification by providing technical assistance in drafting and reviewing regulations for mandatory food fortification across all provinces. It further involves technical support for approval and implementation of the legal framework, development of accompanying rules and regulations, and building the capacity of millers and government food regulatory bodies, including laboratory staff, to ensure enforcement of food fortification standards and adherence to quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) protocols related to USI, edible oil and wheat flour fortification.
1.1.3.
