Installation of Hand Pumps in Water-Scarce Areas of Pakistan

Zakat Foundation of America (ZFA) is a US-based humanitarian and development organization committed to alleviating poverty and ensuring access to basic human rights through sustainable, community-centered interventions. In line with its mission to expand access to clean and safe drinking water in underserved regions of Pakistan, ZFA is seeking qualified and experienced implementing partners to carry out the installation of hand pumps across different water-scarce districts.

Scope of Work

Selected partner(s) will be responsible for:

• Conducting community-level needs assessments and site selection in coordination with ZFA.

• Drilling boreholes and installing Afridev hand pumps according to technical specifications provided.

• Performing water quality testing and ensuring compliance with national safety standards.

• Training local community members on pump usage, maintenance, and hygiene awareness.

• Establishing or supporting community water committees for sustainability.

• Submitting regular progress reports, including photo documentation and M&E data.

Eligibility Criteria

Interested organizations must meet the following requirements:

• Be a registered nonprofit, civil society organization, or social enterprise with legal status to operate in Pakistan.

• Demonstrate proven experience implementing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects, preferably in rural or hard-to-reach areas.

• Possess technical expertise and staff capacity in borehole drilling, hand pump installation, and water quality assurance.

• Have a proven track record of working with community-based approaches and participatory development.

• Be financially sound and capable of managing grants according to donor compliance standards.

Proposal Requirements

Interested organizations are invited to submit a full proposal that includes:

1. Organizational profile and relevant past project experience.

2. Technical approach and implementation plan, including proposed districts for intervention.

3. Monitoring and evaluation framework.

4. Budget breakdown and justification.

5. Timeline of key activities.

6. Legal registration documents and organizational policies (e.g., safeguarding, procurement, anti-corruption)
