Job Summary

Its core focus includes initiatives for hard-to-reach populations through services like outreach clinics, training of community midwives to provide low-cost health services in remote areas, screening for non-communicable diseases, and digital health solutions.
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, is looking for a competent Nutrition Counsellor for Ghizer and Hunza, under CASI Project.
Job Summary: The Nutrition Counselor will provide essential nutrition guidance and support to communities under the Central Asia Stunting Initiative (CASI) project. This role involves assessing women and child nutritional needs, delivering individual and group counseling, monitoring growth, and promoting healthy behaviors particularly among pregnant and lactating women, children, and adolescents. The counselor will coordinate with healthcare staff, maintain accurate records, facilitate community awareness sessions, and support Social-Behavior Change Communication (SBCC)initiatives to reduce undernutrition and improve overall community health.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess family’ nutritional and health needs and develop culturally appropriate nutrition plans based on available resources.
- Provide individual and group nutrition counseling on healthy diets, meal planning, cooking practices, and disease prevention.
- Deliver targeted support to pregnant and lactating women (MIYCN), children, adolescents, and individuals with chronic conditions or comorbidities.
- Conduct need based nutritional screening and growth monitoring (weight, height, MUAC) and track growth trajectories.
- Coordinate with healthcare staff and refer complicated cases to appropriate facilities such as LBWs, anemic etc.
- Maintain accurate individual records and submit regular activity, progress, and stock reports.
- Organize and facilitate community awareness sessions, cooking demonstrations and mother-to-mother support groups, positive deviance approaches.
- Conduct community meetings and inform local stakeholders about existing social and behavioral issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 months experience in nutrition programs, field work, or clinical counseling.
- Strong communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to promote sustainable behavior change.
- Good organizational reporting, and computer skills.
