Program Overview
Chemonics International, a US-based international development firm, is implementing the USAID Pakistan Climate Financing Activity (PCFA). PCFA aims to mobilize public and private, domestic and international finance for increasing clean energy generation, clean energy systems resilience, and adaptation efforts through policy reform, awareness raising, and targeted activities to enhance the role of the private sector in Pakistan. PCFA has two primary objectives. Objective 1 will de-risk and catalyze investments in climate mitigation and adaptation align with national/local priorities and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), working with private enterprises, project developers, and local authorities to enhance their capacity to develop and appraise high quality proposals and link them with potential funding sources. Objective 2 aims to unlock and catalyze public and private finance to strengthen climate resilience, catalyze investment for adaptation and mitigation projects.
Chemonics is seeking support to fill the position of Finance and Accounting Intern. The Intern will work closely with the finance and accounting team to support routine operations. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Scanning, renaming vouchers on MS. Excel and saving those scanned vouchers at SharePoint’s specified folder as directed by Line Manager
- Support Line manager to enter the payment vouchers into ABACUS (the Chemonics Field Office accounting system).
- Work closely with Administrative/IT Assistant to manage petty cash funds including verification and review of petty cash payments for accuracy.
- Review cash balances daily and support Line Manager for the preparation of monthly wire transfer requests.
- Provide support in processing payroll, ensuring forms are accurate and complete. Support line manager to review the project staff expense reports for accuracy, coordinate with relevant persons for completion of record before processing.
- Support Line manager to prepare GST exemption packages in accordance with USAID guidelines.
- Make sure all finance vouchers are in order and complete as guided.
- Any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, accounting, or any other related field.
- Prior internship/work experience with USAID funded projects will be preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and high expectations environment.
- Work experience/sound knowledge of USAID or any other donor funded projects preferred.
- Proficiency in English and Urdu required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Computer skills: e.g. Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
Reporting & Location
The Finance and Accounting Intern will report to the Accountant. The position will be based in Islamabad, Pakistan.
