Relevant Experience:

Master/MBA in finance, accounting, and commerce from a HEC recognized university.

At least 10 years of relevant experience and 6 years on the same role.

Job Description:

Main duties and responsibilities; but not limited to:

 

  • To ensure that appropriate financial systems are maintained, and that all procedures and controls are implemented.
  • Define and produce financial reports on utilization of funding to aid senior management in decision-making process.
  • Prepare budgets and accounts to donors through regular liaising with budget holders on all aspects of financial management.
  • Ensure all typical donor requirements for documentation of expenditures are met to facilitate attribution of expenses to donors when funding is obtained.
  • Identify problems and develop solutions for best financial practice.
  • Assist in writing of job descriptions for financial positions and selection of suitable applicants, where needed.
  • Maintain proper check on the work activities of Finance Officers.
  • Establish an effective filing system which can provide easy access to information and proper documentation of all financial requirement
  • Assist the Core Team in the development and drafting of project proposals, preparation of mission operating plans / budget.
  • Assist in the identification of potential funding sources and ensure project managers to formulate project budget submissions and subsequent revisions in accordance with donor guidelines.
  • Ensure that all transactions are properly accounted for.
  • Manage bank accounts, monitor cash flows and ensure that sufficient funds are always available in the bank.
  • To approve payroll, and other payments and sign all kind of cheques, as necessary.
  • Check and prepare monthly financial accounting reports at the end of each month.
  • Check the month end cashbooks, and ensure that all book-keeping and coding is accurate.
  • Formulating strategic long-term financial plans and developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk.
  • Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance.
  • Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Managing an organization's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Liaising with auditors to assist any audit undertaker and ensure annual monitoring is carried out.
  • Producing accurate financial reports to specific deadlines.
  • Supervising all finance staff.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
  • In consultation with the Human Resource Manager, enhancing existing payroll structure, where necessary.
  • Manage and monitor the day-to-day functioning of the finance department, including cash disbursements, cash receipts, etc.
  • Ensure the implementation of new financial software as and when required by the organization.
  • To adapt the changing environment of NGO sector and forces of the competitive world.
  • To maintain constructive, purposeful, trust based and sincere relations with all colleagues working above or under whether directly or indirectly associated.
  • To continuously upgrade own knowledge, skills, attitude and application to become more valuable member of the organization.
  • To update management and other concerned with any development, internal or external, which can be of help to improve quality, provide better services and effectiveness and efficiency.
  • To participate in all meetings, committees, forums, projects and assignments as required and expected.
  • To continuously think for betterment of organization, its progress and its ability to fulfil its mission.
  • To maintain highest standards of honesty and integrity in all disciplines.

Programme Development and Planning

  • Assist the CEO/DF and other senior management in the development and drafting of project proposals, preparation of mission operating plans / budget.
  • Assist in the identification of potential funding sources and ensure unit / project managers formulate project budget submissions and subsequent revisions in accordance with donor guidelines.
  • Support the involvement of all interested organizational members in the planning, development and funding of projects in which they have an interest.
